I was born in November of 1962 to a military family. I lived in New York, Colorado and Virginia before settling down in Raleigh, NC in 1973. I grew up in Raleigh and am glad to call Raleigh my home.
I started work early. My first job was a newspaper route at age 12. At age 14 I worked at a Supply Company doing everything from customer service, working a cash register to driving the fork lift.
A big part of my life is a house that my family built in 1975 – 1976 on Lake Gaston. We literally built the house on weekends reading out of “how-to” books. I grew up water skiing and fishing and boating on Lake Gaston. I learned construction from building our house and parlayed that into working for construction crews most of my high school years. Three of my crew were former Hell’s Angels. I ran a small construction company a few years in college building decks and adding on rooms.
I did Time Share sales in Myrtle Beach through my College years.
I was taught manners and a strong work ethic by my parents. They taught me to work hard, look out for others and always try to be a good person.
